Battery low on remote warning

Hello all,
Got this warning on my wife’s 2018 XSE. I swapped the fob with the second fob we have that has never been used and the warning still came on. I got new batteries to swap out on the first fob but wondering is there anything else that needs to be done to reset the warning?

Did you still get the warning after replacing with fresh batteries? The one or two times I had to replace the battery, the warning went away....

I have not done that but figured the spare remote would not be low. Either way I bought a two pack of batteries so will replace on both remotes.

If your spare remote is anywhere near the car it is actively sending and receiving signals all the time. There is a procedure spelled out in the owners manual for Key Fob Battery Saving.

Keep the fob around 10ft away from the car.

The spare is in the house so easily more than 10 feet away. I just changed the batteries in both fobs so should be good to go.
