Body Control Module

Good morning. Does anyone have any idea where I could find the BCM in the 09 Corolla S? I'm fairly certain that it is the culprit for the mysterious gremlin lurking in my wife's car. When locking the car remotely, sometimes the car beeps twice (with about a full second between beeps), sometimes it doesn't beep at all, sometimes the lights blink and sometimes they don't. Also, the dome and map lights spontaneously turn on and off and flicker while the car is locked. Its very aggravating. Has anyone else experienced issues like this? Any suggestions other than the BCM? Thanks in advance.

Tried code reader that reads Toyota enhanced and manufacturer-specific codes?
If not may be a visit to the Toyota shop for a diagnosis.

Best i can do outside of taking look at FSM for BCM operation/wiring.

I had the dealer check for codes and it came up clean. Fortunately, they didn't make me pay the diagnostic fee. This was before I knew there was such a thing as a BCM. I might have to go talk to the parts counter at the dealer since I have to go order a couple of things anyway.

OK, at this point the Toyota tech would probably check BCM for proper powers/grounds and inputs/outputs.
Without confirming this it's a guess to whether module good or not.

AllData.com has schematics and operation information if you DIY.

"Also, the dome and map lights spontaneously turn on and off and flicker while the car is locked."
Possible intermittent door switch ?

Thanks for the info. I am a DIY-er so I'll check out alldata.com, but I still don't know where the BCM is located. I thought about the door switch being a culprit, but while the lights are on, the door ajar dash light is not lit up so I assume its isn't a faulty switch. I'm telling you, this issue is driving me nuts!

I have seen few threads of the BCM location on the 5th generation Camry. It might be the same.

Worth a try...

Good luck,

Does the same happen when using key?
If works normal with key then could be remote receiver/wring problem..

I went to the dealer and talked to 3 different parts guys and they had no idea about a BCM or where to find it in their parts lookup. All they would suggest is to bring the car in to have it diagnosed. Ugh. I'll have to try a different dealer I guess. That's a job for next week.

Is your Corolla equipped with the smart key option?

The BCM is throughout the vehicle, if there's actually one. Though, I don't think the early 10th gen has any.

The harness has junction box connections and there's connectors in between.

You have a junction box on the passenger side behind the kick panel and on the driver side kick panel.

One side of the dash is connected to one or both junction boxes depending on the function.
