How do you remove a broken key in the ignition? Its all the way in there. I use the other half of the key to start the car. :headbang:

is there a way to take the ignition barrel out and get the key out?

thanks in advance

Take a hacksaw blade and cut it down lengthwise so that it's about 1/8" tall. Leave it a lil thick on the end, because you need to grind a hook in the last 1/4". You should be able to slide it in along the top or bottom edge past the end of the key and hook it where the cuts are and pull it out. Thanks Popular Mechanics.

Otherwise, take it to a locksmith, you need a new key anyways,

Good Luck,

This is very speculating based on another, car. I don't know much about Toyota.

But perhaps instead of taking the cylinder entirely out which would be very hard in an Audi, you can pull the electric switch component off the back side of the mechanical key part, and then stick a tiny eye glass screwdriver to poke the half key out.
