Bumper Question

Hey guys, I have a pretty nasty gash in my rear bumper along the side where someone backed into the car with a trailer (that apparently had a freaking blade hanging off it or something??) before I got it. Will a bumper skin like the one in the link fix it? This seems like such a cheap fix it's almost too good to be true (even adding in paint and shipping, it's still WAY cheaper than I thought it should be).

thanks guys!

I'm taking it to a local body shop here in town- my family is very close with the family that owns the shop, so they've always cut me pretty good deals ($50 to paint and install a roll pan on my truck seems like a good deal anyway, I didn't really get quotes from anyone else). I'll go to them for the work on the bumper also.

I just didn't want to buy this and find out later that it wouldn't work for some reason I'm not aware of.

That sucks...is this pretty much standard practice in repairing a vehicle? I guess maybe black is easier to match, because they perfectly matched my black trucks roll pan. Then again, I'd rather have a slightly off-color bumper than a perfectly matched bumper with a gigantic gash in the bumper lol.

I had mine repaired at Service King and I'm very happy with the results. And yes.. after market bumper covers do suck.. don't even go there.

Someone marked up and gouged the corner of my back bumper while parked
(not even 5000 miles, yet :ahhhh:)

The estimate I got for a new cover, installed and painted, is $700.

Another shop I checked with wanted about $150 less to simply sand, fill and repaint the affected area.
The $700 shop seemed a lot more professional, and the guy took the time to explain what he wanted to do and why.

True, I have to hear back from the driver's insurance company, but that's the story so far.

Sorry. Now I don't feel so bad for mine. My car was less than 500 miles when I go pick up my cousin at the airport. He took his heavy suitcase and slam it on the bumper when putting it into the trunk. I was like  . I brought along a comforter to put it on the bumper just for this kind of thing but he did it before I could pull out the comforter.

BTW-- Update, fwiw:

The new bumper cover looks great, they washed & vacuumed the car and it looked almost cleaner than when I picked it up at the dealer. Bill was to the penny.

Timeline Fyi for anyone else needing to do this: They got the unpainted bumper cover in, and had me come by one day for a visual check to make sure it was the right one. A few days later I dropped off the car at 9:30; they had it done by 3:30.
Nice.. so only about $100 + 1 day car rental?

I once backed my Camry into my brother's motorcycle. Heard it and felt it and I pull right back out. The plastic bumper came back to normal shape and got only a few scratches. One of these day I'll go buy the paint to fix it. The scratch is visible if someone really look for it.
