Bypassing the factory amp

I’ve tired my best to search around on any info on bypassing the factory amp, and coming up pretty dry. I know it’s located in the glovebox, and i’m guessing I would unplug the harness from the amp and run speaker wire to that harness from my amp. But, my main question is, can I use some sort of connector to ease installation, or would I be better off cutting the connector off completely and wiring speaker wire directly into the harness?

This thread should be of some help.

You don't need to cut anything. Just unplug the the harness that has the Blue, Light green,Violet, and Pink wires on it. It may have some other wires too. Then run your wires directly from the amp, to the wire colors I just listed...

Light green : FR+
Blue : FR-
Violet : FL-
Pink : FL+

Use a wire tap connector for that unplugged harness.
Leave the harness plugged in that has the Grey and White/blue stripe wires on it, because that one supplies power to the main radio dash harness too

I don’t follow.

I upgraded my radio, that was already aftermarket when I got the car, to a double din Jensen touchscreen. Crutchfield sent me an amp integration harness that just plugs into the connector that comes from the amp. It supplies all of the power, ground, and sound, as well as illumination and some other ones as well.

The other connector, to my understanding, is for the CD changer that is in the trunk. I don’t have it, but every Avalon has the harness for it.

What i’m now thinking of doing is cutting the connector off of the amp, and wiring all of my speaker wire to those wires that go to all of the speakers. Then, i’ll go behind the radio and make my own power wire that comes off of the ignition switch, as well as a constant supply from the ignition switch as well. I also plan on grounding the radio directly to the chassis, to eliminate as much noise as I possibly can.

Am I right in my method of thinking here?

I got it bypassed.

I went and took out of the glovebox, found the amp, found the outgoing wires to each of the speakers, found the right wiring diagram, tested for about 4 ohms of resistance, then cut the wires and wired them up to speaker wire coming from my amp in the trunk. I now have full control over my speakers, but for some reason I can’t get rid of the hissing coming from the speakers. I’m thinking the head unit is making this happen, because the old unit that was there never had any hissing.

Anyway, the hardest part about this job is finding where to put all the wires. I opted to hide as much as I could under the trim that follows the doors, but I ended up shoving most of it under the carpet and into the trunk
