think of how often you change the cabin filter and think of how often the air freshner effectiveness wears off.

air freshners (even the JDM ones) last only a few weeks to a month - cabin filters need to be changed about once per year. it'll smell nice for the first bit then if you want to make it smell nice again u gotta crack open the glove box, unscrew it, reach in to remove it and do it all over again.

more hassle than benefit IMO.

Cant you get like little mesh pouches filled with little air freshener beads? Maybe you could grad a needle and thread and sew the pouches to the filter?

I like having a Filter for the Cabin.

They do work. I have one on my 2000 Park Avenue and I swear by it.
That was a nice feature for back then too.

Yes, they can be kinda expensive to have replaced.
I have 'checked' their effectiveness though and they do filter out not only particals but smells too.

I have filtered out a lot of shit...seriously...shit when you pass a farm.
I have seen how dirty they become when you change them too. Since I smoke in the Park Avenue it will fill up pretty good.

The mechanic at Denny's Auto Diagnosis (http://www.dennysautodiagnosis.com/4436.html) where I have my Park Ave worked on is anal about cigarette smoke and he says he can hardly smell it in my car.
That says a lot about this filter. I smoke a lot in that car. I always vent but still, cigarette smoke is nasty.

The XLE only has 13K on it and Mrs Dood will not smoke in it. I have cheated a little bit.
I don't think it will need changing until we reach 30K miles though.

These filters also help out of you are sensitive to pollen and so forth.
They are a good thing to have....and they are worth every penny...

As for Denny's Auto Diagnosis here are the links to their other pages.
Tim the son of the owner (Denny) finally took my advice and posted pics of the place.
It is one of the best well maintained shops that *I* have ever seen.

If you live in the Lansing area or are passing through and need something done...then you can depend on these people to get you going again.
Just tell Tim that 'Old Dood' (Stephen) sent ya....he knows me by that name. :D

Maybe some kind of scented or essential oil would last longer. My wife uses them for various things around the house. The scent seems to last a long time.
