Hi all,

I have a 06 Tacoma. I checked the cabin air filter yesterday and they were dirty. Do I need to replace it or can I just blow it with air and reuse it?

Thanks guys.

I just bought two filter from here and the cheapest I've found. Apparently the filter is same as Ponitac Vibes.

http://www.allergybegone.com/pontiac-vibe-cabin-air-filter.html

Came to $23.57 for two filters. $9.99 + shipping each. $8.99 each when you buy two plus saving in shipping.

Figures it the same as the ponitac vibes. Tacoma's and the Vibes are made at the same Plant-NUMMII

Guys, the Pontiac Vibe is the cousin of the Toyota Matrix, and their cabin air filters are identical -- but not exactly the same as the Tacoma, which is unique. Close enough, though... apparently they fit fairly well. Just thought you should know in case you are anal about such things!

And yes, I do have a Tacoma filter in mine... :D

I picked up 2 for the taco, one for the Solara and one for my dad's Sienna. Thanks for the website.

Stealership tried to sell me one for the Solara for $88 last week. I hate bringing that car there and really want to get some slight-incline ramps so I can do the service myself. We're out of storage room so ramps are not possible right now.

thanks again!

Maybe its just because I'm afraid to break something, but I cant figure out how to get the glove compartment off? Also, how often should this thing be changed?
Don't blame ya- glove box is a POS! When you open the glove box there are tabs in the back (left and Right)and a spring on the right. You need to remember the position of the spring (which hole the stud is in). Pop it off and press the side walls of the dash out so that the glove box tabs will clear. the glove box is held on with the snap on hinge. When putting the spring back there is a hole that I stick a short nail in to keep the spring expanded. a lot easier to put back in. Problem that I ran into is that the spring keeps poping off so I drilled a small hole into the stud (dash ) and put a small cotter pin to hold the spring in place.

I decided to BUMP this thread after check my fiances filter on her 05 Corolla. Man, talk about nasty! I ended up making a new one from a 3M furnace filter. What a difference!

FYI to all, the cabin air filter for the Corolla/Matrix/Pontiac Vibe is NOT the correct one for the Tacoma. They are different sizes.

the filters are only like $9, just use the real thing...or buy 4 at a time to save on the shipping over time. Oh, and mine was exactly the same as the vibe's, compared them myself. :)
