Calling you guys with BFG MT tires. Are they safe for HWY speeds over 65mph?

Hey guys, I read tons of tirerack reviews and stuff on this tire. but there is not that much talk of the on road manners. I may go with the ATs depending on what you guys say. I had the hankook MTs last year and the truck was al squirley on the hwy. Im not sure if it was just the brand or what.

as some of you know I have been debating this for days now. Please offer info.

i drive mine at 90mph all the time without any problems. they are louder that AT's will be. they seem to handle just fine at any speeds.

Yeah, and now I have them, and they are still sitting in my garage...:lol:

I've got the BFG MT KM2's and have had them over 80+ without any problems. Handling characteristics are a bit different due to the 285 size and 3" lift, but still felt very stable.
Squirrely tires were my 35 x 14.5 x 15's on my old solid axle...I couldn't keep the truck straight over 65mph

Every day man. Commuting on the autobahn 5 days a week for over 30,000 miles with 285/75 muds. How long you guys think swampers would last me? couple months maybe? BFG m/t's kick ass. I like the looks of the new KM2, can't wait until they come out with the "normal" sizes next fall.

Maybe he's talking about the governor. It doesn't kick in until 112 mph, but it's really easy to disable. I know it's not the safest thing in the world to drive that fast on mud terrains, but these tires do well considering what they are. The truck gets a little light in the tail at about 120 or so, and don't even think about twitching the wheel when cruising along at those speeds. It's kind of like driving on ice when you are going that fast, just slow methodical movements and you'll be ok.

Slow methodical @ 120mph... haha .
Should me "smooth and..." there is nothing slow about a 4x4Tacoma going 120mph.
I would think that your Muds would wear out faster than green grass through a goose at those speeds???

I have the BFG M/T on my wrangler and these tires rock. I siped my set and that helped out alot on ice and i think gave me better wear. I've put about 50 thousand hard abusive miles on them and they still have a good amount of tread left. As for on road handling ive had my Jeep up to 95mph and they handled fine. Just waiting till the ruggeds wear out then i'll get the M/T's no questions asked!!
