That's right.

In the latest issue of Motortrend, Toyota took first place against Nissan Altima SE-R, Mitsubishi Galant Ralliart, and Chevy Impala SS (if i remember correctly). it was a comparison of "sporty" midsize cars.

I was quite surprised myself.

just thought i'd let you 6th gen guys know. (sorry i don't have any page scans though)

How does it face up to the maxima?
Camry & Altima are in the same class, Maxima would be compared more to an Avalon.

Here is a comparison at CarandDriver of the Buick Lacrosse CXS vs. Chrysler 300 Touring vs. Ford Five Hundred Limited vs. Kia Amanti vs. Nissan Maxima 3.5SE vs. Toyota Avalon Touring Sedan

http://www.caranddriver.com/comparisons/9639/30000-family-sedans.html

Avalon came in #1 and the Maxima #3

If I remember correctly I was harshly corrected by someone (name withheld) in this forum for making a comparison between the Camry and the Impala. Apparently, Motor Trend agrees with me. :nana: They should be compared!

Hey, there is a press release about the Camry winning an Acceleration Contest?
Uhh sorta, the article stated that from all four cars the camry was the fastest in everything including 0-60 + quartermile + other 0-XXMPH times.

For those apparently unwilling (or unable  ) to click on the direct link to the story:

1st Place
Toyota Camry SE
Best overall package on a superb new platform. Performance, quality, safety, and comfort--what a concept.
2nd Place
Nissan Altima SE-R
If you put more emphasis on sport than sedan, this is your car. Can't wait to test the new one.
3rd Place
Mitsubishi Galant Ralliart
A nicer car than its third-place finish indicates. Doesn't overwhelm, but does everything well.
4th Place
Chevrolet Malibu SS
In this case, you don't get what you don't pay for. Costs less, but gives less. We'd like to try one with GM's 3.6-liter DOHC V-6 and a six-speed automatic, even if it costs $1000 more

I would like to see a comparison of the '07 Camry SE against the new Honda Civic Si Sedan, Mazdaspeed 3, and Mazdaspeed 6.
I wouldn't compare those. Different cars. I actually went to see the Mazdaspeed 3 and speed6, Speed3 is nice, but no room on back. Speed6 has the chrome exahust tips, buily in the bumpre plastic, really really out of place. The Civic Si, is a small car....different class
