The switch is in the latch. I disabled mine to haul my kayak 1/2 mile. I stuck a folded postcard into the latch, which stopped the beep. Then when you're done, pull that inside the trunk release lever to get the latch to work again.

Well thank you for that info. With your information, I was able to "lock" the trunk latch with a screwdriver, and then unlock it with the safety handle you referred to. We know now what former East German Border Guards are doing...inventing crap like these trunk alarms for our own good! I had to listen to the alarm for and hour and a half, hence my motivation to "fix" it.
