MAN!!!!!
The custom shop just called and said they can't install my springs because the airbag system(side curtain). They said they don't want to mess around with that stuff . Has anyone here ever had this happen before? Let me know if this is going to be the norm at all the custom shops. Thanks!

So when I got there today they said they can't get to it because of side paneling from inside the car, which I guess part of the airbag is in there and thats why. If I could do it myself I guess this wouldn't be a problem. Man it sucks because 2007 would look awesome lowered. I don't think the shop handles a lot of new cars so if anyone thinks that I still have a chance to have lowered, but by another shop..just let know if you think it's possible without screwing around w/ it myself.

Thats still doesn't make sense. There shouldn't be any need to remove any panels to remove the struts and springs. Its a matter of taking off the wheel, unbolting the brake knuckle and endlinks, and removing the strut. I say take it to another shop if you don't want to do the project yourself.

Yo white3chocolate in my gen 4 camry you would have to remove the rear side panel to get the deck off to get to the 3 nuts that keep the strut mount attached to the car, but still if they were good at what they did to not set off the air bags just disconnect the battery so the bags don't deploy, but yeah I don't think toyota would have made changing struts so complex, those guys at the shop probably don't need to get working on cars!!!

Thanks for replies. Megamcac83 thanks for letting me know about your Gen 4 because this means it can be done, just not by the shop I was at. Thanks White3Choc. for your replies.

Yeah, especially when I already bought and have the springs not expecting it to be a problem, but I'm gonna check around and find somebody who can handle it. Thanks!

Right, in my Gen 5, it was a little less complex... part of the rear seat comes off with a bolt and a clip... and it exposes the 3 strut mount bolts. But yeah, I agree as well. Toyota wouldn't have made it so complex.

Good luck jb2007, let us know how it goes. It can definitely be done. :)

contact your dealership to see what they say. the owner's manual says before installing a sterio system or suspension, to contact them. they should be able to help you and point you in the right direction where to get it installed.

there has to be a way. the shop you were going to probably doesn't want to take a chance on a new 07. did you research reputable shops in your area, or this was the first one you saw? when my hubby was getting this truck lowered, he contacted both custom shops & off road shops who specialize in suspension work.

There is not a whole lot in my area, but I work with 4or 5 guys we have a mix of hondas and toyotas and this was shop they all go to(turbo, suspension, whatever) But I'll just have to keep looking.

I own a factory lowered Gen 6 (All SE models are )
Wireless they're real nice. In fact I already have the SE grille on my LE. I think I saw a thread somewhere wondering if you could switch em.....you can.

well I'm gonna check some places out. Anybody know a place around Pittsburgh let me know.

good luck, be sweet to see the first lowered gen 6
I'll post a pic when I finally get it done. Maybe tonight I'll throw one on for guy wondering about the grille.
Thanks

I think the main problem is because, if i remember correctly, The deployment charge for the side curtain Airbags extends down the rear sail panel of the car into the trunk area right next to, or above the strut mounts. It would be a liability issue for the shop if they did the work and for some reason if an accident were to happen and the airbags screwed up, it would be their fault
