USB for carplay does not recognize any device, tried multiple phones, cords, full resets of the multimedia itself. How can i pop out the in dash usb for carplay? Does it pop out easily or does the dash need to be taken apart ?

I’ve had this issue on several Toyota rentals. I haven’t been able to figure it out. In your iPhone, you will need to go to your settings. Screen time -> content and privacy restrictions -> allowed apps -> CarPlay is turned on.

Go to general settings -> CarPlay and see if it connects again. These days, I’ve been renting vehicles with wireless CarPlay.

Make sure your phone has CP and Siri turned on...

My guess is that you tapped on "No" last time when CP dialog popped up, so car turned it off. It happened to me a few years ago. If this is the case, go into settings and turn CP back on:

Next time you connect your phone you should see it as an option on Menu screen:

Thanks for sharing.

Even this is activated, the engine system still blocks for some reason. Not sure why it would work previously, but it didn’t work still.

Could be both sides not working.

edit : entune not engine

Did you confirm CarPlay is enabled in setup?

Also, have you ever updated it?

What year is your Corolla and what head unit?

At least it should show version installed... And shouldn't need a subscription, it should update wirelessly. I will confirm on my way home this afternoon on my '19. Worst case scenario is for you to download the latest file from Toyota US site and install via USB, or if still under warranty, dealer can also update it for free for you...

Curious if the cable makes a difference

I’ve had this issue before.

You’ll need to go into your settings for your iPhone. Delete the CarPlay relationship with your vehicle.

Go to settings->screen time->content and privacy restrictions->allowed apps ->CarPlay (toggle off-> on)-> exit

Go to your head unit and delete the Bluetooth relationship. Create a new Bluetooth connection. If it’s accepted, then CarPlay should pop up on your iPhone.

If it doesn’t work, then repeat the above for your iPhone. Before you start the new Bluetooth relationship, go to settings -> general -> CarPlay. It should show up here for your car.

you just saved me a few hundred dollars as I was considering buying a new head unit. Thank you!!!!

Is it a gracenote or a entune unit? The apple fix should have improved the connection. I’m not sure as to why you’d need to restore the connection everytime you exit the vehicle.

Before spending coin on a new head unit, I’d search the inter webs to see if someone found a solution. As annoying as it is, it’s worth a shot.
