Has anyone found a decent place to mount their CB antenna? I am debating between the outboard top of the rear bumper and the front rail of the bed.

Those are probably two of the worst places you could mount your antenna. You want your antenna to have as much of a clear 'view' as possible. If you mount the antenna on your bumper the box will be blocking probably at least half of the antenna. If you mount it on the front rail of the box then the cab will be doing the same thing. Either go for a roof mount or a toolbox mount (assuming you have one). Your best bet is the roof.

The cab roof is not an option as I frequently use parking garages around town. In the early 1990's I had a quarter-wave antenna mounted on my old Ford. As I drove through one garage in Boston I head a repetitive smashing sound. My CB antenna took out row upon row of flourescent lamps as I searched for a place to park.

So, I prefer a shorter antenna with a lower mount. Yeah, I know that reduces range. If I was out in the country more often I'd go with a roof mount.

The bed rail is a good place - not too low, not too high. Thanks!
