The center armrest lower mounting plate and screws (1/2" of thread) broke away from the center console base, taking a little plastic with them. And knocked the rear-seat A/C vent trim-piece off. Took a minute to figure out what was happening.
Went to ACE hardware and bought four longer #10-16(thread) 3/4" self-threading screws to drill into and not crack the plastic too much. The metal rectangular mounting plate fits right above the rear A/C vent. Push against spring pressure to lay the plate flat and put 4 screws in the original corner holes. Use a drill with extension on low torque and carefully do final tighten.
The longer screws worked and didn't run into anything. So far so good. You might try slightly longer screws (7/8") as these didn't really have many more threads due to the cutting tip. And there are two extra holes in plate that could be useful if it happens again. Could possibly add epoxy in holes too. Hope it holds another 270K! Be well.
New screw and two different original Toyota screws.
