Check engine light and AWD light

I bought a 2015 Rav 4 with 38,000 miles on it a few months ago. I have been very pleased. Until yesterday. The check engine light and the AWD light came on at the same time. I have searched threads all over the place and saw that it could be as simple as a loose gas cap. I tightened it, no luck. I bought the Rav from a small dealer but called the initial dealer and they reported that the extended warranty came with the car and not the dealer so that is in tact. Any suggestions?

Get the error codes read at an auto parts store. They’ll do it for free. I bet it’s a P0442.

I had this exact thing happen on my 2015. The CE light would come and go. I replaced the gas cap and it went away permanently. I think you could get one for free, as the emission system warranty is for 8 years or 80k miles. The cap cost about $20 on Amazon, so I just paid for it myself rather than deal with the hassle of taking it in to a dealer.

Since I posted above, the code came back on mine too. I replaced the solenoid valve in the pic below back in September of 2019, and it hasn’t returned. Toyota p/n 25860-0V140. About $70 for an OEM part. It’s not terribly difficult to replace. Two hoses and an electrical connection. It’s up against the firewall is the worst part.
