Hello! I have a small problem with my 2011 Camry base model manual transmition. I replaced my rear view mirror and installed the EC homelink with compass rear view mirror as the replacement. I followed the instructions and it works fine but after connecting the battery again and turning the car on my check engine light stays on. I had the same problem when I installed my HID head light kit and I disconnected the battery and apperantly it reseted the computer because the check engine light turned off, but I tried to disconnect and reconnect the battery twice now after installing the mirror and my check engine light is still on. Any ideas on how to reset it?

I took it to Advanced auto parts to get the computer diagnostic and the error that came up said Electrical system voltage or something like that. They told me they couldn't do anything about it so they said I need to take it to the dealer and have Toyota plug in their software. Their guess is that since the car didn't come with that mirror now that is hooked up the car doesn't recognise it and it trigger the light to come on? For some reason as soon as the car starts moving my trac control light comes on too..

The body computer could care less if you changed you rear view mirror, I did mine with no problems, on the old 07 I got rid of.
Check all of your fuses, even the real long 100+ amp fuse to the alternator, under the hood.

So I took my car to Toyota to get it checked out and ofcourse didn't tell them I installed the mirror myself just incase they said I voided the warranty by doing that, so I just told them the light came on a few days ago but the car is running fine. The firstvthing the associate said was that they needed to plug the computer and that was $99.99. I told him well given the fact my car has only 15,500 miles and its a 2011 shouldn't it be under warranty?? He said most of the times the warranty doesnt cover that but he wasvgonna take care of it, and its a good thing he said that because I was ready to raise H)ELL. They said it was the EFI(Electronic Fuel Injector) Fuse that was blown. They replaced it and reseted the check engine light and tested all electric to see if there wasva high voltage drawn that could have caused it but everything was fine. They even cranked my music really loud to see if maybe the amplifier was doing it. So I guess maybe when I hooked the mirror up it caused a discharge to blow the fuse up or maybe was just coinsidense??

I may be in error, but if the EFI fuse was open, it shouldn't have run (no power to the injectors?). I feel the information from the dealer service department is smoke. 1 + 1 in this case might be 3... But it is running and the SES light is out, which is a good thing...

Exactly. To me was kinda weird to hear it was a Fuel Injector problem because the car has been running fine and if was a Fuel Injector problem I would have noticed something like a decrease or something. I think when I turned the car on for the first time after installing the mirror it might have created a power shortage and maybe blew the fuse? Bottom line whatever itturn was they fixed and the light turned off.
