2018 Toyota Camry se

I wanted to share this with you guys to save you some time. About 6 months ago i brought my car into the dealer and ever since my check engine light would come on and off for almost no reason at all. After about 2 days it would go off and then come back on usually when accelerating. The secondary collision brake system malfunction warning came on at the same exact time. the code was P010515 which points to the map sensor failure. I would have bought the part and replaced it but i couldn't find the location under the hood but while searching for it for the 10th time I noticed that there was a vacuum line broken off the air intake hose. I think they broke it when checking my air filter. I don't know for sure where this vacuum line goes because I couldn't find where it goes but I assume it goes to the map sensor. I ordered the replacement air intake hose but in the meantime i glued it back. After about 4-5 starts the check engine light turned off and the secondary collision brake malfunction light turned off.

Hope this helps someone..

thank you!. i may order the part if the check engine light goes back on. I'm going to test the map sensor this weekend. What is the average life of this part? Has anyone seen it go bad?

Thanks for posting this as I have noticed this line being stressed as I remove/replace the engine air filter.
If manhandled this will break the plastic tube piece.
Bad design that should not have gotten deployed.
I agree bad design the hose connected to it has almost zero play in it. I'll probably disconnect it next time i change the filter

Toyota calls the MAP sensor the "VACUUM SENSOR" on the A25 Dynamic Force engines. It basically measures pressure in the intake manifold. Location is #1 in the diagram.

hooked up laptop with techstream software it. said short to ground map sensor

CEL comes on with hard acceleration but if i baby it nothing, idle is inconsistent sometimes 600, 750 or 1000 gas never get more than 34mpg even when doing a consistent 55mph . i used to get up to 48-49mpg when doing 55

even though CEL not on it still present in computer. I can clear it but it comes back

I found the part in stock at a Lexus dealer in Arizona Bell Lexus. They have at least 5 more in stock $223.11 with shipping

Thank you! This is helpful. My check engine & lda malfunction came on at the same time several months ago. Had plugs changed, checked the gas cap, had codes cleared - and they came back on with two days. Now those lights plus parking brake, secondary brake system, AND precollision system malfunction lights are on. What is going on with this 2018 Camry xse?!? It has a lot of miles but I dare not take it to a dealership after reading all the different “diagnoses” that others received. And prices!!! I will have someone that knows wth a vacuum hose is take a look. Thanks again
