I have clouded lenses on my headlights, making the headlights somewhat dim at night. I bought the following LED light

AUXITO 9006 HB4 LED Headlight Bulbs Low Beam Kit 6500K White 16000LM Canbus EXV

It’s definitely brighter. You can see in the picture facing the headlights. One is the old halogen and one is the new LED. The picture with the lights on the garage are the new LEDs in both headlights. Although the focus of the headlights on the garage door don’t seem too high but when I walk in front of the headlights, I can see my shadow 5 feet in the air is probably going to be uncomfortably bright for oncoming traffic. I don’t want to be that guy making it too bright for people. Should I try to adjust the aim of the headlights down? I’ve never done that before. It’s a 2005 Highlander Open to people suggestions. Ultimate goal is to get better visibility and lighting for nighttime driving. Thank you!

I performed a similar LED headlight bulb swap on my 2007 and do recommend aiming the headlights slightly downward if they are blinding other drivers since the LED headlight will produce more glaring.

As others have mentioned, there's nothing you can do to improve the light output except for cleaning the lens back to clear. No amount of aiming will reduce the glare. But even with perfectly clear lights, the LED bulbs will increase glare. You're "that guy" no matter what with those bulbs. The proper way is with an LED projector retrofit kit.

OK, I took suggestions from you guys and polished the lenses. I did quite a bit of research and ended up buying both the Sylvania restoration kit and the 3M restoration kit. I used the best of both kits. I liked that the 3M kit had the drill based sanding, but used the surface activator, polish, and clear coat protector from the Sylvania kit. I was meticulous with the masking, sanding, polishing and clear coat and the job for both lights took about three hours. The passenger side turned out great. The driver side either has some interior fog or had deep exterior hazing. But they both improved quite a bit. I still have my new LED lights in and I’m very happy with the clearer lenses with the LED lights. I had to aim the lenses lower to not blind people and I’ve got it dialed in where it lights up the road ahead of me but doesn’t get up into the eyes of oncoming traffic. I like the white of the LED lights so much I’m now planning to get the LED high beams as well. At some point it would be cool to transition the whole car to LED including the fog lights and interior lights but for now I’ll stick with the headlights. Thanks for the feedback everyone!
