Some of the things you can do to avoid the rock chips would be to get a bra for the winter, or at least a bug/rock deflector. And before winter I like to put a fresh coat of wax on the body. Makes it nice and shiny and I like to think it helps protect it from the salt and other winter crap to.

GTA in ontario, the guys here like to pile the salt on the bloody roads,, gotta make sure that crap doesnt kill my car

 

Clean, put touch up paint over it, then 2 coats of wax to protect it. Or better yet, clear coat a SMALL AREA only. Too big, people will notice...

 

The only way to fix it permanently is grind off the rust to bare metal. Then use some kind of paint or coating to seal it and paint over that. And if its rusted away the metal, replace the metal or use the fiberglass cloth body kits.

Rust comes from the inside out and so any other fix is temporary...sorry i ve had rust too and its either fix it or live with it, i guess.

 

I started getting rust near the hood latch front of car. Had an accident there long time ago, guess the paint job wasn't as good.

Sanded it down pretty well, sprayed rust prevention/free gloss white. Several shots of clear... Its rusting again today sadly.

Repainting it and cleaning it does help, slows down the rust, but for us regular joes doing a small area... it'll keep coming back. darn

 

Same here. I had a minor accident in my '02 that happened back in '03. The rear drivers side wheelwell is getting some rust, and the paint is bubbling. It's something that I'll probably take care of this summer, depending on how cost effective it is. Worst case scenario, I'll live with it. It's not like it's visible when looking at the car.

Make me three... I have rust starting at the top of the glass along the round corner parts.

Hate it... wanna grt it taken care of asap..
