Disable Dash Cam

I have a GH Platinum (gas) with factory installed dash cam -- wondering if there's any way I can permanently disable it. I have formatted a new micro SD card per manual instructions, but the dash cam starts a constant beeping every time I start the car. I can push the green button to silence it, but next time I start the car the beep resumes continuously until I push the green button again to silence. I didn't really want the dash cam at all, but the unit came with it -- I just want to permanently disable it ..... any suggestions?? UPDATE -- I was trying to use a higher capacity card other than the 16gb that came with the unit .... when I put the old 16gb card back in, it solved the continued beep issue.... so apparently I hadn't used correct card-- I'd tried Sandisk Extreme 256 and Sandisk Pro 256 .. neither worked .... apparently 128 is max that will work.

Or take it into the dealership to get it repaired. It shouldn't do that. If it is a factory accessory that was installed at the port or at the dealership, it is covered under the factory warranty and will be repaired or replaced if defective. When it is working properly, you won't even know it's there, but a working dashcam can be a good thing when you need it.

Had the same constant beeping every time the car started. Could not connect via WIFI. Pressing the ON/OFF button would stop the beeping/light cycling. At least until the next re-start. Scheduled an appointment at a closer dealer.

I finally tried checking/reading the old (16gb) card and the new (128gb) on my computer. Neither would mount! I'll take the blame for destroying those cards!

Bought two 32gb cards. One in case I destroy another one! One to take to the dealer to install.

Installed one and the dash cam immediately accepted it and the ON/OFF button shows green. (y)😆 I'll save the second 32gb card for the future! There was no request to even format the brand new card! I'll check it in a few days to see if it is recording anything. I've never had a dash cam and don't really care about having one, on the other hand, I did buy one in this car!

I may re-install the dash cam app, but I will definitely NOT try to use the WIFI connection! :p

In order to connect to the camera's WiFi, you need to turn off your phones Bluetooth. Otherwise, your phone tries to connect to the vehicle and overrides the dashcam connection. With the Bluetooth turned off and the vehicle turned on, you can press the WiFi button on the camera to send a signal. When you go to your phones WiFI settings, you will see the Toyota DashCam option. When you are connected to the camera's WiFi, you can now open the DashCam App and control the camera and download clips. It's really not that bad.

You really need to try another 128gb card rated for DashCams. The 32g card will load up quickly with locked videos leaving little room for regular clips.

Thanks, rkilpa, for the additional info! (y)👏

In my humble opinion, the requirement to turn OFF Bluetooth OFF on the phone is a poor, non-intuitive step. I never saw any indication that the camera was controlled by or connected to Bluetooth in any way.

Frankly, the problem I had was a corrupted OEM card. I probably did that myself when trying to swap the 16GB card with a 128. I bought a cheap 32GB card, plugged it in and everything worked correctly when I restarted the car. Apparently, even formatted automatically. Never used/needed a dash cam in the last 66 years of driving. At 82, I'll likely die before needing one in the future! 😆
