I wish I knew what the 2017 has. On my 2016, I look for the position of the sun during the day, or the northern star during the night. For outside temp, I roll down the window and stick my hand out.
You can see more info in the Owner's Manual which you can download. It looks like the outside temp is displayed in the 4.2" display on all models. The compass is in the rearview mirror in "selected models". It isn't made clear anywhere exactly which models have the compass feature, but I believe that the compass display is part of the "auto-dimming rearview mirror" which comes with the XLE and above.
Its a pretty cheapo move to leave the auto-dimming rearview mirror off the LE and LE Plus (same with Homelink). I'm not sure if it is possible to easily upgrade that mirror. Or, possibly it could replaced with something like this which looks pretty cool - has compass and homelink.
There is compass on the 4.2" Mutli-Informational Display which is standard on all trims. This part of the safety package since the info on adaptive cruise control, lane departure, pre-collision, and auto-dimming high beams is shown on this display. None of the marketing material mentions any difference in the content of this display other than what is shown on the AWD models and Hybrid models.
