Seen on my dash is my FITCAMX which refuses to overwrite old files when the card is full.

So I’m going to get a viofo a119 mini instead, since I had the full size A119 on my old car, and $20 off on amazon as of writing this post.

VIOFO Mini Dash Cam Front A119 Mini 2, STARVIS 2 Sensor, 2K 60fps/HDR 30fps Voice Control Car Dash Camera with 5GHz Wi-Fi GPS, Night Vision 2.0, 24H Parking Mode, Supercapacitor, Support 512GB Max https://a.co/d/30fVpt1

Also need to get some cloth electrical tape to tape the wires.

With the fitcamx, it might eb too late since you're moving on, but a firmware update fixed that issue for me. It's been a month since I updated and have had no issues. Before the update I had the same issue with the camera refusing to write continuously.

1. Is there a noticeable difference with the STARVIS 2 sensor?
Yes

2. Does the Viofo have any sort of "screen saver" mode (other than just blanked out) that maybe displays just a couple of basic things (for example time/date and road speed)?
No

There's a lot of discussion on the Viofo cameras here: DashCamTalk

Well worth the time to browse around if you're considering one.

Have this exact setup (Dongar adapter & VIOFO A119) in my 2020 Tacoma. Works perfectly.

Was going to install the same setup in the wife's new 2023 Venza Limited. Instead I went with Toyota's OE Integrated Dash Cam. What a mistake. (More here) The VIOFO puts the Toyota dash cam to shame... for half the price.

Looking at selling the Tacoma and buying a newer Highlander (would be our third one). Glad to know that I can install the VIOFO in it. Thanks for posting the info! (y)

I’ve noticed that they seem to run out of stock pretty regularly. However it seems to get back in stock very quickly as well. I’ve haven’t seen anything else like it, or that I would trust if I stumbled across it.

You could use the regular USB power cable that I believe still comes with the VIFO dash cam (or buy an inexpensive one if not). Having a wire dangling between it and the dashboard would probably be a little annoying, but might be a good temporary solution.
