door locks on 2012 highlander

I have a 2012 Toyota highlander with doors that will only lock manually. Key fob as well as interior switch will unlock all doors but there is no way to lock them unless you manually lock each door by hand. I dont think the problem is an actuator since it occurs on all doors. Any suggestions on what could be causing this?

Have you tried locking from the passenger door or others. If its only the drivers it would be the switch in the main door likely. But testing is the only real way as the power needs to be there to the module doing the work. Somewhere there is fuse assigned to it.

No background info on the vehicle etc. If its been in an accident then that another likelyhood.

Never been in an accident we are original owners. All doors are involved and neither of the interior automatic door locks will work. They unlock but won't lock. The key will work to unlock the door it was used on. The fobs and interior automatic buttons will work to unlock just not to lock.
Not trying to lock while another key is in the ignition are you? Toyota has added some idiot proofing to stop the car from being locked while your key is in the ignition. It could be that the sensor that detects this is faulty??
No didn't do that

I don't have a schematic on this but in other vehicles the power for all doors go through the drivers door switch assemble. The plastic cover will pop off fairly easily. Pull out the assemble and inspect for corrosion etc if something is blue/green colour around the wire contact etc. You can meter for 12V while in there at the lock switch and see if something isn't right. I don't know if its still a problem but some of those type of fault occur in the main wiring harness going into the door through the rubber boot joining to the main body. Getting at it and looking for a broken, burnt, or corroded wire which is usually in there is a possibility. Although I've not heard of this problem occurring for a long time. Maybe you'll be the first in decades.

Any update on this issue, Sledder118? I have this same exact problem with my 2012 Highlander. Doors only manually lock, the fob and the door will unlock all doors but not lock them. Checked all the fuses, no battery issues, fob battery is new…troubleshot all potential issues from this thread. Would love any help I can get.

Did you ever get anywhere in troubleshooting this issue? I have a 2012 Highlander Hybrid and I seem to have the exact same issue. I can unlock the doors with both the key fob and unlock button on the driver's side door. However, the key fob is intermittent - more not working than working at the moment. I try to lock the doors with the key in the door and same "no bueno".
