Thanks Mike. I noticed this one has way more bolt holes than the original. Wondering if that will be an issue.

 

That might be for the 2WD as it has a different tank. Not sure, but if you do a bracket search many sources come up. Keep looking You can strip and clean those line tubes to remove the rust.

Looks like it might be a good idea to keep it full so there's less condensation?

Might want to consider AmsOil Gasoline Stabilizer? I haven't needed it, but have used nothing else as far as oil, grease, trans fluid in decades with no problems at all.

 

You have not looked too hard Rockauto.com has your fuel tank for about $150. NAPA prob. has them as well they used to stock a lot of exhaust and tanks.

"Fuel Tank Tube Assembly, Suction" I think is what they call the part the fuel pump hooks too.

You will likely need to look at 4Runner parts 1985, 1986, 1987 etc....You might need to make something fit.Look in aftermarket just know it was called a "Hilux". I know they still make them and are on market even if Toyota discontinued it.

Hey guys just a quick update, i replaced my entire fuel system (tank, filter, pump, sending unit) and got er running. planning on changing the gear fluids soon.

 

Love me some Toyota Truck Therapy. Good job. One less worry down the road.

 

I'd run a couple of tanks with added fuel system cleaners through to make sure the lines, pressure valve, and injectors are clean now too. I've used them all- Techron, STP Ultra, B-12, Lucas, Seafoam. Pick one. They will over time clean out the parts. Kept my OEM system running great with only changing fuel filters and a one time replacement fuel pump. Idles smoother than a 22RE should.
