Hi all.
I have a 2000 Camry CE. Recently, when i go to fill up
the tank, the pump will shut off like it's full but it's not.
I have to very slowly put the gas in or it just keeps shutting off.
Anyone with help to this problem would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks:laugh:

It might have the same problem as this:

I had this issue with a car and the trouble was the fuel filler neck.
It was rusted out around the neck and the new fuel filler neck cleared up the issue.
If I recall there was some problem with one of the metal vent lines being rusty or full of crud also, along with the neck being toast.

A few days ago I replaced the FFN on my 2000 Camry, if you must do this let me know and I will tell you some hints to make it go easier. I learned the hard way. Found a nice one on ebay, for $65 delivered.

They guy we got our Camry from said that it was difficult to fill with fuel during the summer months. My wife drive it mostly so I haven't put much fuel in it so I don't know if it's still a problem or not. I don't know what's causing the slow filling issue.

dan, when you fill up, do you top off or your wife or whomever drives the car? if so, its highly possible the charcoal canister is saturated and will need to be replaced to fix this filling problem. as bmr's diagram shows, it's a big player in venting the tank and since the station pumps use backpressure to kick them off when the tank is full, if something in that venting system is stopped up/ruined, that could fool the trigger into cutting off prematurely.

I have to do a fair amount of work on the car in the near future.

Timing belt, struts, and tranny solenoid cleaning, as well as a fluid replacement. I'll check out the canister when I'm in there.

Thanks for the info!
