Hard to move from Park to Reverse

I just bought my '04 Camry LE auto. It is kind of awkward to move from Park to Reverse. I have to kind of force it to move from Park to Reverse. Is it normal? My Honda Accord can move smoothly from Park to Reverse without any problem, it just slides from Park to Reverse.

Does this happen when you are parked on an angle? If so, try it on a flat even surface. It should be fine.

If its fine on a flat surface thats because your not using yoru parking brake. It specifically says in the Toyota manual that if you are parked on an angle, you should leave your foot on the brake. Then engage the Emergency brake. THEN shift into whatever Gear you want.
And to switch out, you do the opposite.

^ exactly, also by doing this it puts less strain on the tranny. I always see people throw it in park and get out of their car, then you see the car roll back and forth a couple of times. They don't know but their screwing up their trans.
Didn't know that....OOUCH! what causes more strain, parking facing up or facing down (at an incline)???

Arg... you damn automatic people... hehe.. jk.

I finally got my gf doing this right...

When you are parking (especially on an incline) shift into 'N'... pull your parking brake up... and then put in in 'P'. When you are going to drive again.... Take it out of 'P'... and then take the brake off.

Also what I do is put it in nuetral, pull the handbrake then let off the foot brake to let the handbrake engage, then put it into park. But only on an incline.
