I am away out in Manitoba and I just received a call from a female friend in the Ottawa area. She has just received a price for doing a timing belt, spark plugs and something about a leak in the power steering???
The price she was given is over three thousand dollars!! Seems high to me (I usually do my own work, with help from Toyota nation)
So is this price too high?
Any recommendations for a good honest mechanic in the Ottawa area.
Her confidence in the van is at a low ebb because she had it in to a Toyota dealer for regular maintenance, they pulled the wheels to check brakes etc. and away she went. A few days later she could hear a grinding noise etc. Her daughter was driving at one point and said "we are going right to the dealer, something is wrong". At the dealer they were told it is close to closing time we can't put it up on the hoist until tomorrow. A young fellow who was there said I will come out and look at it.........wheels were ready to fall off!!! My friend was given the story that their torque wrench was broken and they had bought a new one after her van was done!!! Needless to say she does not want to go back there (they got off a lot lighter than they would have had I been the customer!)
Anyway.....looking for help in the Ottawa area
