Help on removing AC vent & stereo

For 00-04 Avalon

So, after researching on TN, reading the service manual and this installation instruction:

I am still having my hardest time getting the AC vent above the stereo out of the dash..
I pulled so hard that i think the wooden trim is coming off seperatly from the vent body.
After the entire afternoon, i was able to get the top pin unplug, but not the two on the bottom.

Just wondering if anyone of you have any tips, suggestions, or tools to provide me..

This is by far the hardest thing to dissamble from my car :sosad:

Help will be greatly appreciated!:naughty:

(please no best buy, they want 71+tax for it)

i just yanked kinda hard and it came out for me, not sure but those clips are in there realy good, try a screw driver on each side, make sure that you wrap them with masking tape tho so you dont damage any thing

i will give it a try tomorrow again..THANKS!!!
but i did tried pretty hard and almost got some blisters on two fingers

if i pull try to pull the vent from the sides, the wood trim actually gets bented first to a point where i am afraid that i am going to break it.

how did you make out removing center vent? I'm having the same problem and can get a screw driver on these clips but not sure what I need to with it. any advice would be appreciated. thanks.

I bought trim removal tools from ebay. They are plastic and wont scratch up your panels as easily. That said, it took me an hour or so of gently prying to get them out.
