Has it been done before and what type of work would be needed? Whats a good website for information on honda engines what would be the best engine to drop in it?

Why would I want a Honda motor in my Toyota when I could drop a 20V 4AGE or a 3SGTE in my car?? If I wanted to see VTEC under my hood, I'd go buy a Civic or an Integra. :)

Power where?? a 20V is basically the equivalent of a B16, and you're saying you wouldn't go with a 20V because they're too expensive?? how much you think a B16/B18 swap will cost you??? I remember seeing B16s and B18s for sale in Toronto for like $4500 not including install.. so paying $1500 for a 20V plus install is too much, like I said you might as well buy a Honda.

You could probably get just the motor for about $600-800 but complete you're looking at about $1500-2100 depending on the shop. I believe the axles work from the 16V to the 20V. I would rather get the 5spd than the 6spd though.

you already have a 4age... why don't you just put some money into it? rather then buy a whole new engine. From what I have been told the 20 valve's aftermarket parts are hard to find. If your after power so much shove a supercharger or turbo onto that engine... Maybe better injectors and/or better cams. Better valves and springs and so on.
And no I don't want to hear the vtec opening up if I am sitting in my ae92 :p

The thing is i dont want a supercharger or turbo id like to keep things simple in other words n/a i dont want to go all crazy and twin charge it or anything, but i dont have the money to do anything right now, the reason im kinda thinkin about the 20v 4age right now is cuz of the 6 speed tranny and i from what ive seen looking at those ae86s and those newer ae101/102/111 truenos and levins doesnt look like much of an abundance of after market parts although they are probably hard to find in north america but im sure theres some places that will ship parts over? Also when i decide to start getting serious on tuning my ae92 im going to need a new engine an engine with 237000 kms just isnt reliable when your looking for performance although it does have years of life left in it, it wont last long in racing conditions or if you start putting lots of pressure on the engine something will go....

My 89 GTS has 345,000km on it.. it still hits 200km/h like it was new. :D

As for 20V parts being hard to find.. so are 16V parts.. you just gotta look for them :)

Why would you NOT want a 5spd.. its stronger than the 6spd. :)

300 hp? wtf kind of honda motor are you looking at. Not stock... if your getting 300 hp you are putting a good ammount of money into it... I found a site that tells you what to change on a 4age engine so that it can have 500 hp, but that costs lots and lots of money. But in the end it will rev to 11000 rpm! Not bad for the 16 valve 4age :). Even the 4age 20 doesn't make 300 hp... more like 160 (black top) and people have been saying 160 isn't true either... For an ae92 to have that ammount of power you'd have to modify the body, add frame supports and such otherwise your body will twist...
all I can think is that 90 in an 89 sr5 is plenty to give those newer cars a good challege. Corners better too! and you want 300...

no i want 1000 hp but ill never get it hmmm maybe i should put a rb26det haha howd you like that nismo shiet!! j/k i didnt mean honda motor puting out 300 hp stock i said if we fixed up our engines with 300k kms on them they wouldnt last long unless possibly you rebuild em i guess and replace what ever you need to. also i knew black top and silver top are supposed to be around 160 hp -_-, and an engine taht can rev up to 11000 rpms doesnt mean its powerful infact it could be lossing power by going up there maybe not but ill tell you that it wont be very reliable or streetable....
The reason i was suggesting a honda motor earlyer was because for example the k20c(rsx type-s motor) puts out 200hp stock but from what ren said it seems to expensive so i guess ill probably go with the 4age 20v or just rebuild mine...

depends on how far you are willing to go. If you want to win you start pushing the car harder and harder. I have 90 hp and I have beaten quite a few people. Mostly because I am willing to take corners drifting and such allowing me to go alot faster than them. I also have no problem going 130+ km/h in a city lol.
I have enough faith in my engine that if I tuned the shit out of it that it would last me awhile longer. No matter what engine it is, honda, nissan, toyota and such, the moment you start making it put out more power you shortin. I used to like honda until I drove a civic. The engines aren't that great, my driving instructor had a civic, my car feels more powerful when I floor it... I also see WAY to many of them at a wrecker. The corolla's aren't as easy to find around here, gts's are almost impossible (I have only found 1 so far) and it had some sort of eletcial problem, so the engine caught fire LOL. But on most of the cars if they haven't been in an accident it's the body thats done. The engine would run if you pulled it and put it in your car. The honda engines I've seen aren't as pretty... they look like they might crumble into a million pieces if you touched them lol

I would suggest if your worried about the km just buy a jdm 4age smallport and drop it into your car. They have on average of 30 - 40 k on them. So you can modify the shit out of it and should have no problems

Well for now im just going to get a full custom exhaust and intake that way if i feel the need for more power and want a 20v i can still transfer those over with little modifications, and civics arnt all that amazing but i have to say the 2004 sports hatch back si is fun just like every other sports car it has that feeling that gets you hyped up the reason i bought my car was because it felt sportyer than even the 2004 celica trd celica gt-s i test drove and yea its hella hard to find a corolla gt-s or sr5 with a clean body they are all rusted on the sides bottem of the doors under the doors front fender rear fender and the front of the hood just like mine when i got it but i took care of the hood i got lucky found 1 super clean fender and 1 pretty clean fender i dunno what ill do about the rear fenders.. probably by reproductions..

Do you want to use the car for racing or for day to day? If you plan on racing, your going to end up spending money just for upkeep if not for repairs. And thats a foolish idea to try and put a VTEC into a toyota. If you want honda go buy honda. Its no more difficult to buy parts for a 20 v then any other engine with some age on it. If you dont have the money what are you really trying to accomplish?
