It can be done with the key, secrets all over google via Toyota.
The article talks about why it's done and refers to track events.

 

It's only probably 1% of the alarm's fault. it's really the 10 or so computers that are retaining their memory.
The best thing to do is to just go out and start the vehicle every few days and let it run for about 5 minutes or just drive it around the block.

 

My TAL sits for weeks at a time between outings. If it's been over 3 weeks I go out and put the charger on slow charge. The stress that's not put on the alternator by charging saves the battery and the alternator. And gas!
