I don't know of any home remedies, but I'm sure you could find a windshield repair service near by who might be able to fix it. If nothing else, they'll at least be able to give you an idea of what you're working with.

I have successfully used a glass buffing kit, with small circular wheel buffing pads and window compound, and a motor tool to remove light scratches from bad wipers on a British car. It takes a long time though and you run the risk of optical distortion of the glass if you buff too deep. I don't recall where I got the materials but I think it was Harbour Freight. Also it might have been Eastman (the header paint supplier) or JC Whitney. I think the kit may have been intended for polishing jewelry if that helps. The proper glass buffing compound is the key, as it is much finer than any car rubbing or buffing compounds you might find.

A good glass company might be able to compound and buff them out, but scratches that are very deep are there forever. I've never had scratches on my windshield. Any idea what happened?

 

are you sure its a scratch and not a crack in the glass??

nonetheless, i'd check into your insurance coverage to see if it might be covered. i've had a cracked windshield replace/repaired for free under my insurance without paying the deductible or having my rates go up.

If you find anything Id be interested to know. My passenger window is scratched DEEP from what the dealership tells me was a small rock in the weatherstripping. I didnt realize what was happening until it was too late. I put the window up and down maybe twice and then noticed the scratches

 

I think it may have been my fault because I notice these scratches a day after I was deicing the windshield using on of those "special" scrape pads or whatever the name of it is. However I always try to be gentle and I don't get how it's possible for me to make scratches like that when I didn't cause anything even remotly close to the same damage in any of ma previous cars in the past and I had both Mazda , Toyota and even Ford cars.
