How to remove vents in 2006 Corolla?

Does anybody have any steps/pointers on how to remove the front vent louvers? The car is still in decent shape so I don't want to start breaking things on it or messing up plastic parts by prying in the wrong spot. Usually I can find youtube videos or forum postings on stuff like this but so far all I've found are for other Toyotas or videos from overseas showing what looks like a different car. :(

The long story...

A few days ago my wife noticed a bad smell in her car--2006 Corolla. After looking around, I found that a rodent had chewed some of the rear seat so there was a small pile of foam pieces under the rear seat and next to the rear door.

I couldn't find any sign of a mouse anywhere else in the car but the cabin air filter was full of maple seeds and other debris (the car sits outside near a maple tree), so I changed out the cabin air filter. We then proceeded to rent an upholstery cleaner and cleaned out the carpets and the rear trunk liner. The smell is still present but is much fainter. In case there's still a dead mouse or nest somewhere in the ducts, I'd like to get a camera down into the vents. Autozone apparently has a nice borescope in their tool loaner program. The problem is that the camera part of it is too wide to get between the vent louvers, so I'm thinking if I can remove the vents I can get the camera in there a couple feet to make sure I got everything.

Put your shifter into neutral if you have automatic transmission. If you have a manual, then put the gear shifter into 4th gear to give you some room.

Remove the shifter plate cover and the hvac fan speed knob. There’s a total of 3 screws. 1 under the knob and 2 under the shifter plate. Pull the cover from under the lower pocket. Then unplug the airbag indicator, hazard and clock. 4 10mm bolts for the radio. The hardware securing the radio are used for the center vents.

Hopes this helps.

I'm dealing with a cabin AC fan issue, and if the rodent was coming in through the cabin air intake and got past the filter, you can also get a camera in the very first vent that goes to all the other vents. You would remove the cabin air fan assembly (it's not hard to do) and stick the camera videoscope into that orifice which you will see after you remove the fan assembly. It's at the back (firewall side) of the fan housing cavity and to the left (driver's side). I don't know how far you can reach in there with your video camera, but you can try. I'm actually thinking about doing this if my next solution to my problem doesn't work.
