Hybrid Max shuddering like an earthquake at a complete stop while in drive with foot on brake

The wife thought she was experiencing a 7.0 earthquake getting off the freeway today. After coming to a complete stop with her foot still on the brake, the GH began bouncing up and down violently for several seconds all by itself. The dashcam video is wild. If I didn't know any better, it looked like an adaptive suspension going haywire, but we don't have an adaptive suspension. Anyone else experience this unsettling situation?

Turns out there is a Technical Service Bulletin (T-SB-0028-25) for this situation. It only affects vehicles with the Hybrid Transmission Assembly HPC60 found in the Hybrid Max. "may exhibit a shudder sensation when the vehicle is at a complete stop, the state of charge (SOC) of the HV battery is greater than 76%, and the transmission is in the Drive position with the brakes applied."

The fix is a reprogramming of the Hybrid Vehicle Control Computer and is covered by the 8yr/100K Toyota Hybrid Warranty.

This is for the 2024-2025 GH Hybrid Max and 2024-2025 Crown with the Hybrid Max powertrain.

Gotta love new technology!

The TSB came out in February 2025 - 6 months ago. Hopefully, Toyota corrected the issue and your Hybrid Max was built with the updated programming. However, we have owned our Hybrid Max for almost 2 years and this is the first and only time this happened to us. I'll be taking it to the dealer this week with a copy of the dashcam footage to show my vehicle qualifies for the repair. This should be a safety recall, as it could be a safety issue if you might have a heart attack thinking you're in a major earthquake when it happens!
