If I trade in a 2024 Camry with 5,000 miles for a higher version how bad will it be?

Will I get completely robbed on value?

The 2011 Camry I traded in had rear vents for AC/heat and this new one does not. It is terrible. We are freezing to death in the front and the kids are roasting in the back.
I am not happy with this one at all.

No. Nobody will roast. A car's volume is so little in comparison to a home, that it will cool down in 5-10 mins. If you say your kids and/or you are impatient and/or can't put up with inconvenience, that's understandable and I would agree 100%. And to be honest, if this was such a big deal, shouldn't one have looked for the rear vents before one bought it?

One; I was not looking in the back for vents they were in the exact same car I had traded in. Why on earth does a 4 door family sedan not have rear vents now?

The 5 hour road trip in Texas heat that we just did had my wife and I freezing in the front and the kids sweating in the back.

IMO, rear vents are a must for the southern states.

If you like everything else about the car except the missing rear vents, I would consider tinting every single pane of glass, including front windshield with Ceramic tint. The IR heat rejection is night and day difference when I'm in the driver seat with full ceramic fronts versus my non-tinted vehicle in Florida. Some people like the feverish burn while the A/C is blasting on max, I don't, especially if I'm in the sun for hours at time.

Metal and Dyed tint will not keep your interior cool like Ceramic. I cannot visually tell during the day nor night that I 70% ceramic on my front windshield.

It's affecting your visibility whether you notice it or not. Also illegal in all 50 states.

OP could save a lot of money with one of these.

Your new Camry most certainly does have rear vents, just not on the back of the center console. They are located under the front seats as shown in this illustration from the owner's manual. In my opinion, the lack of vents on the back of the center console makes the back seat area look cheap but it does not change the functionality or effectiveness of the AC system.

Unless Toyota decided to go against the industry standard, those vents only work when air is being routed to the floor. Yes, they'll work when the diverter is in the "heat" and bi-level positions, but not in any other configuration. Adding vents to the back of the console should improve airflow considerably.

Part #'s in that thread

Agree I'm struggling to find the posting on it... it must have been in a thread which wasn't specifically titled adding rear vents. (maybe something like "what did you do to your 8g Camry today)

That said, with the part numbers and diagram above, you have 80% of what you need... next you could pay for the 2day $20 TIS login and view the relevant parts of the service manual for disassembly of the console. Its rather easy, and if you have the parts it'll just mean unclipping/unscrewing a number of parts and replacing

I would absolutely do this mod if it were important to me. Its not a biggie and would probably feel pretty satisfactory afterwards. My Canadian XSE has the rear vents so all good here

What works for me- window tinting, windshield shade (Autotech is what I bought for my 2024 Camry and I have a Weathertech in my 2018 Toyota iA. Note- I like the Autotech better as it is foldable), and last but not least I went to Best Buy and had them install a remote start that can be used by the fob (they will need 1 of the fobs for the system to work) AND by the Drone app which is cheap (about $1.67 a month when you buy the 5 year deal). So some other ideas set the A/C in the summer and heater in the winter so the car is ready after being cold/heat soaked. Last but not least buy a block heater for the winter and park it in the garage or find some shade to park it under. P.S. buy a weatherproof Battery Tender to keep the battery topped up. The Best of Luck to you. P.S.S. I like the additional fans as they have hand held ones etc.

Simply put your VIN in Carvana website. You will know its value in less time then posting this thread. Then you know what you paid out the door. That is your loss.

First thing I did when I bought my avalon( glorified camry) was ceramic tint ALL windows including the sunroof. That helped alot

Now on road trips, if you aim the side dash vents to the side windows and aim the center vents down the center and twards the back, it will help.

Adding the new center consol with the rear vents will help And will be cheaper than trading in your car for a higher trim level.

Also you can use a sun shade in the rear window.

I want to add the center console vents, but having difficulty finding any posts/videos on generation 8.
