Hey guys,
I'm really hoping that someone here can point me in a reasonable direction. I'm really loosing my crap. I have a 2010 Toyota Highlander Base model with the 3.5, AWD. The vehicle is just shy of 209,000 miles.
Symptoms:
Currently I have the Stability control light, the ABS light, Airbag light, Power steering light, and the Brake light on. The temp gauge, tachometer, and speedometer are non responsive. I have tried two scanners, but nothing is reading from the OBD2 port, however both scanners got power from the vehicle and attempted to read. The power steering has failed. The power steering does not work but the ABS seems to be functioning. I have no AC whenever the power steering is not working. When I put the high beams on I also do not get an indicator on the dash as I should. Driver's side headlight is out, driver's side window is sluggish.
Complications:
Issues are intermittent. They seem to come and go as they please. Sometimes they last days, other times they last minutes or hours. I have not been able to pin point a pattern. Pretty sure the bulb is unrelated, though I have not investigated that. The driver's side window has messed up window scrapers that may be impeding its movement. Also, I'm pretty sure the front blower motor has been going bad for some time and may have finally kicked the bucket. Now, even with the power steering off, I can feel cold air seeping from the vents and the blower motor makes quiet-ish ratcheting sounds with no air being pushed. The vehicle is housed in FL, outdoors, and is driven between 20 and 70 miles per day.
Other potentially relevant issues:
Brake lights do not function normally. I have the brake lights tapped into the tow package wiring and they function that way. Reverse lights do not function. The tail lights and rear blinkers function normally. Outside of regular maintenance the last work I had done to it was replacement of the A/C compressor, condenser, and other A/C related parts. Radio volume knob does not function properly, though I doubt that it relevant.
What I have done and found:
I have researched fuses and relays, none of the affected systems seem to share those kinds of electronic components. I have not physically pulled any fuses as last time I did this trying to troubleshoot the aforementioned brake light issue, I pulled a fuse that actuated the shifter lock and that was a miserable time. A reset of a module (not sure which) did fix that, however, with the OBD2 not working I'm not really wanting to risk that or worse happening without some proper guidance. I tested the battery, starter, and alternator twice with two different devices. Everything checked out good. I have been trying to figure out how to test the serpentine belt tensioner and inspect the belt, as I have been having a difficult time getting my hand into that part of the engine bay because of the radiator hose. I've also done some research regarding the BCM, though right now considering the litany of issues plus the OBD2 not working, I'm really thinking its the ECM...
Anyway, I'm really hoping that someone can help me with this. I'm in over my head.
