I decided to try the inside windshield tinting.
XPEL Prime XR Plus 45%
  • Shade from 5%-70%
  • Ceramic Plate Technology — nano ceramic particles that filter out the sin’s infrared radiation
  • Blocks 99% of harmful UV rays
  • BEST Heat Rejection — Rejects up to 98% infrared heat
  • Greater Clarity — Provides high performance without reducing outbound visibility
It was about $200 and 30 minutes. Tint Film Info

I always use a windshield shade but thought this would help. I also think that using a windshield shade will help keep your windshield from becoming cloudy from the plastics off gasing. NOTE- the ultimate experiment was to use Coroplast or Corex. This material is used for outside advertising signs and looks like cardboard. It stops the sun from superheating the windshield and helps drop the interior temps 20 degrees. I just bought some, cut it to size, and used a strap much like a snow cover.

It is virtually clear
Instead of being vague, it would help others that you tell them which tint you used.

a 70% VLT tint would be hard to recognize the darkness.

Many states don't allow a tint on the windshield, and just because your eyes say it's virtually clear, a tint meter can say otherwise. It's your risk, if you want to roll the dice or not.
