I'm looking for information on installing an IPod on my 2006 Camry XLE. It has the JBL 6Disk indash CD changer and sterring wheel controls. I would like to be able to install my IPod without loosing any of the current functionality.
Has anyone done this before? Can you suggest the best adaptor?
Thanks

Epsilon - which auxillary jack would that be? Its a gen5. And how would that give him steering wheel controls?

I have never been able to find an acceptable ipod interface that gave me everything that I wanted. But I have Nav and want titles. Crutchfield.com may be able to point you in the right direction for an adapter that works with your radio.

My apologies. I guess I misread and thought you had a Gen6. Anyway, I recommend this product:

Again... he wants steering wheel controls. The harmon kardon is fine... but not very elegant. I have never been a fan of the "add more shit until it works" school of engineering. Besides, you get the sound quality of an FM modulator = blah.

Dension will be distributing the DICE interface as their IceLink which looks promising, but I am not sure if the toyota version is ready yet.

At least with the Harmom Kardon he can control what he wants to play from the driver's seat without taking his eyes off the road thanks to the iPod display on the dashboard, which serves the same purpose as steering wheel controls: to control the audio system without diverting the driver's attention from the road.

Since steering wheel control is most important to you, go with the Dice Integration Kit that Hawkeye-SE recommended. It sounds like a good product. If you get it, write a review for us.
Thanks for the info. I'll take a look at the Dension product and see if it fits my needs. The Harman/Kardon unit requires mounting other displays and I don't want to clutter up the console with extras when the indash system is quite capable of doing the same thing with the right adaptor.

Im using the Peripheral Electronics iPod Adapter in my 2001 Corolla. Works great. I can change congs using the track up/down buttons on my stock deck. I recommend it. I looked at their application guide and it said all Toyota models up to 2005. 2006 Camry is the same as 2005. Find out first before buying though. You should be able to use steering wheel controls. They even say that on their site somewhere.

The shelf price was $200 but when I arrived to have it installed they didnt have it in stock. I had already worked out a deal to buy it for $170 from the retailer. They had an openbox one where a guy bought it, had it installed and removed right in their shop. I got it for $100 + $50 installation. I was jipped on installation because it only took them 10 minutes. Im assuming it will be harder with the new style radios.
