Plastic cover is missing and needs to be replaced. Cover and 2 or 3 bolts if I remember properly. I would do it rather than ignoring it!!

 

If I recall, there’s no hardware holding the inspection cover.

 

Someone removed the inspection cover at some point or it fell off. Go to local junkyard to find one. It’s a piece of plastic.

 

So you think it was only removed to inspect the transmission? And problem with junkyard is you can’t jack cars to get underneath to access the cover

 

Find a junkyard with the cars jacked up on rims. It's a plastic piece that just snaps in place. It's not the end of the world if you can't find one. It's been like that for some time now I'm guessing.

 

You can buy these from any toyota dealership for under $20, will try to post part number when I get home

 

damn I cant find the packaging it came in, but for sure the dealership has them or can get them, I just replaced mine for probably the 5th or 6th time, they dont bolt in anywhere its just plastic held in by its own tension of being smooshed into place, so a hard pothole shot or a well aimed highway rock can dislodge them. good luck

It's not discontinued. Thanks for the reminder, I just brought a flywheel cover from my Toyota dealership for like $13. It had to ship from FL.
