If you hit the lock button on your remote twice, your headlights will turn off. Normally if you just press it one the lights will stay on for 30 seconds...or longer if you leave a door open. I just realized this after owning my Highlander for nearly 6 years. This feature could be useful on occation.

My dealer changed for free. Some dealers charge you to change the setting

I also found out (before it was stolen) that if she leaves her fob inside and I lock the doors with the drivers door switch, it beeps then promptly re-opens the door . Lucky I am not in a high theft area, took me 3 days to realize it was unlocked with a fob in it... Duhh.

About 8 months ago I learned by accident that you can lock all 5 doors by pressing the small nub button under the license plate lights. I never knew that..
On the 2013, one press on the Unlock button (on the remote) unlocks only the driver door. A second press unlocks the rest of the doors.
I don't know if this is like this because I have the Viper alarm system on top of the Toyota's, but I can lock all doors while the car is running using the remote. It also arms the car.
If the alarm goes off by mistake while the car is armed, and you want to reset it from afar, just press the Lock button again rather than the Unlock. The alarm resets itself and the car stays armed. This way you don't have to unlock the car, then lock it again.

^ One click for driver's door, two for all doors is standard for Toyota. Same goes for using the key in the driver's door lock. One unlock turn does the driver's door, two turns unlocks all of them.
