Hello all. This is my first day as a Tacoma owner and as I'm sure everybody realizes this is my 1st post. My new truck is a new 2008 Doublecab 4X4 V6 with TRD Sport package in Radiant Red. I am looking forward to enjoying this truck and I hope it meets up to my expectations which are based on what I've seen and heard from research.

Now a little background. My past trucks have been GMs (currently Silverado Z71 doublecab) which I will be selling asap. The reason(s) I have switched are, in order of importance (1) reliability (2) size (3) looks- i.e.sportiness (4) fuel economy (5) incentives-0% APR

Any thoughts on these expectations and also advice for a Taco newbie?

I look forward to this forum as a great source of information and I hope eventually I may have something useful to offer.

You will love owning your new truck. Sure they may be some flaws that you will want to cover, but overall it is a great vehicle.

I came from a 1995 Pathfinder that I put 598,000 km's with absolutely no unregular work and I am glad I made the switch. Sure the Pathy was great, but I truly enjoy driving my Tacoma.

I would recomend a few things that I find usefull for myself:

-Purchase a bed mat if you already have not
-Some good floor liners from Weather Tech are a must
-I personally love the Extang Trifecta cover, it seems to work great with this truck.
-Consider looks for some new tires over the next little while. While the stock tires are not horrible, they are not great either.

I will post some pics as soon as I get the chance. I didn't even bring it home from the dealership today, we (western KY) are amidst a ice storm so I thought I'd just leave it and let them detail it before I bring it home.

As far as mods, I always say to myself I will leave stock, at least till the new wears off. However, I can never make it more than a couple months and then its on. A couple things that immediately come to mind are front skid plate, brush guard, CAI and I have always been a sucker for custom wheels. You'd think at 37 I'd outgrow some of those things :)

Me too...I was a Chevy man, and switched. I got a TRD Impulse red pearl double cab last Thursday. I think 0% financing is everwhere in the states. I love my truck, but its only seen the trip home fromt the dealer. only 24 miles on it...haven't driven it since. The weather absolutely sucks here. Worst winter in a long, long time. Not so much the snow, though we've had over 40" this winter so far, but the cold...around zero for most of the winter!

I already put OEM running boards on it, trimmed up the mudflaps on the front, and put an Extang Tonnu canvas cover on it. Also have some Wet Okoles coming in a few weeks. Congrats on your buy!
