I ordered a set of KYB Excel-G shocks for my 96 2WD SR5, which I suspect one or more of the existing shocks are blown. I know Excel-G is closest to factory ride quality, and Gas-A-Just is firmer and yields better handling.

My question is, has anyone had both, and if so, how much firmer is the ride with Gas-A-Just? I’m just curious.

I have Bilstein 4600's all the way around and they're valved to match OEM but firmer.
I run 31"BFG's with a healthy sidewall since I'm still on 15" rims. The ride is almost to the point of being uncomfortable and as for handling these are old trucks so shocks aren't gonna improve handling to any measurable amount. Unless you need adjustability I'd go with the Excels.

I just installed the Excel-Gs yesterday and my god, what a difference. The old shocks…they were in bad shape. A rear one was totally blown, and one of the front ones was totally worn out, as I pushed the shock down and it didn’t come back up without some help.

New ones ride like a dream, I’m very happy with it. Mine is a 2WD, so I just want the OEM ride quality.
