I just got my 2018 camry as well and I am having the same issue. The PCS goes off at random times especially when it rains. The dealership said they didn't find anything wrong with it but I gave them pictures of the warning indicators. Now they have my car until tomorrow to further diagnose the problem. I miss the days when I don't have to worry when I drive a Toyota.

I would pick up scanner from some part store or Harbor Freight and run health check. See if it's linked at anything and go from there.

I really don't understand why you guys are running into issues for warranty work??? Unless you drive into service drive like an a$$hole, get out from the car all pi$$ed, slam the car door shut, scream at the service advisor then I will see an issue.

But warranty work is always guaranteed for something like especially when it's linked to safety.

Small secret...Never ever buy a car that was built on a Monday or Friday and especially on a Saturday. Thursdays are the best days. As for Camrys... Try to find lowest production line number on the VIN plate on windshield (found on lower right hand corner) because day shift completed the vehicle but nightshift mostly built it. Most of the seniority is on days and they like to find ways to screw up to stop the line and milk the overtime so the mindset is always off.

How can one tell which day it was built? The door jamb only states the month and year. VIN does not state the day either.

You can't, but it doesn't matter because this is just an old legend people have been parroting about various brand for decades. It's also an insult to the factory workers.

First off your dealer doesn't have a clue. The window tint has nothing to do with the precollision malfunction since that works off of the Toyota emblem in the grill. The LDA works off of sensors in the bumper. Unless you have a wrap on your bumper or something covering the Toyota emblem that's not it. This is a known issue. I have a 2019 tundra and sometimes the brake warning will beep and afime on while I'm driving down the freeway with nothing in front of me.

not true the pre collision camera is located on the windshield of newer Toyota's behind the rear view mirror and are notorious for going out i have had my 2020 camry camera replaced 3 times in 1 year and when you set the cruise control it sets off all safety features

I guess fellow line co-worker insulted himself and his fellow co-workers with that quote. He's the one who told me that.

To addition to that statement this is another one from master technician from 2016. "The reasons why new Camrys have issues is that everyone down there is more worried about fishing than building cars." After year being in the very same area, now I can see what he means by that.

You haven't answered my question.

He did. And FYI, your "secret" is at least 50 years old:

"In his 1971 book Wheels, Arthur Hailey claims that cars that were primarily assembled on a Monday or Friday would suffer from quality problems due to worker performance/absenteeism issues associated with those days....So, while the origin seems to be a work of fiction, is there any truth to this widely-held belief? "

"Cars are not completely assembled all in one day. The final build attaches all the subassemblies together, but the various parts are all built at different times. So. Which date are you interested in? Further, if a vehicle is half assembled on Friday, and half assembled on Monday is that twice as bad? – Adam Davis "

"While it's obvious, as Adam Davis points out, that complex products, like cars, are not manufactured in a single day, it may still be of interest when critical parts of the car, such as safety belts, were installed, if Mondays and Fridays are bad days for manufacturing.

Statistics for manufacturing quality per weekday are hard to come by. However, if low quality manufacturing is assumed to be caused by overall lack of concentration (due to still-drunkenness on Monday, or due to thinking about drunkenness on Friday), then I would argue that manufacturing errors leading to workplace accidents should follow a similar pattern as manufacturing errors leading merely to low quality products.

Ruckart and Burgess (2003): Human error and time of occurrence in hazardous material events in mining and manufacturing. Journal of Hazardous Materials, 142:747 who looked at the distribution of accidents reported to the "Hazardous Substances Emergency Events Surveillance (HSEES) system maintained by the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR)", found that most events (2781 [84.7%]) occurred on a weekday, with the greatest number of events occurring during Tuesday through Thursday (619 [18.9%], 565 [17.2%], and 587 [17.9%], respectively). Which means that on average 17.0% of accidents occur on Mondays or Fridays, respectively."

I have a 2018 Camry SE I am having the same light issues with. I have took it to Toyota in Muscle Shoals, Ala and in Columbia, TN and no one can tell me what’s wrong they are trying to replace my injectors and told me it may not even fix my problem because Toyota told them that’s where they would start and my car isn’t under warranty so I have to pay it all 1000. They started coming on before warranty up but told me it was nothing to worry about it was my gas cap. I am still having this issue a year later any time it rains the lights go off. It is always a cylinder 3 misfire but Toyota says it is a weird code and nothing they have ever experienced.

Hi guys,

New member and I am having this issue with my new used car 2018 camry le. The check engine, precollision system malfunction, lda malfunction, and secondary collision brake system is going off. initially went to the dealership they said it was related to tint i installed; they cleared the codes but after the second day I drove it all the codes gone off again. Have any of you guys dealt with this and if yes what was the issue and how did you guys fix it. Currently back at the dealership they are gonna look into the car again to see if there is anything else going on.

Thanks

On June 21, 2021 (this past Monday), my 2019 XSE 4 Cylinder's dash/infotainment suddenly had all kinds of similar "idiot" lights turning on and various scrolling messages so I pulled over and called a local dealer. A week or so ago I received the fuel pump recall notice but I hadn't had it taken care of yet. The local dealer suggested I bring it in and they'll have a look. They said it was "related to the fuel pump recall". They replaced the fuel pump and all seems good for now. I have video of my dash showing the lights, scrolling, etc... if anyone's interested.

I am interested in the video. Thanks.

Thank you. Mine has been showing multiple lights behind the steering wheel precollision malfunction, secondary brake malfunction, Lda malfunction and missing really bad if I cut the air conditioner off it quits which is weird I have took it to 2 different Toyota dealers multiple times in over a year and they can’t tell me what it is which is crazy they called a Toyota specialist and he said start with injectors but they tested those and they were fine but there is a fuel pump recall on other camrys just not mine and I’m wondering if that might be my problem as well.
Here's jpg of infotainment screen. Hitting "Play" just resulted in a funky voice saying what is written.

Sorry but I haven't been able to figure out how to attach/insert video. I'm out of time for now but will try as soon as I can.

In lieu of the video, I took "snapshots" in my video player and captured 1 each of the "scroll" and inserted below. Note all the "idiot lights" were not flashing except for one of the ones under the tachometer needle.

All those lights were the same on mine but 2. I did not have the parking brake light yet and the reduced engine power light. I figure it’s only a matter of time though. I just hope I don’t get stuck out on interstate with kids in the car or even worse involved in an accident because the car is crazy. I’m glad you got yours fixed.
