I hate rtv. Some need to really cure for a long time to really not leak. Also i know it's just a valve cover but are you torquing it in a criss cross sequence?

The absolute best rtv I have ever used is Motorcraft TA-31. It's for the Ford diesel's but it is super strong, fast curing. I use it in all applications that either don't want to seal, or pita jobs you never want to again. Like a timing cover on our cars lol.
 
Even shops dont rebuild calipers anymore. Too much time and liability. Not saying it can't be done, but this is a much different ball game then a normal brake job. And for how cheap reman calipers you could get you would get warranty and soneone to sue in the event of a failure lol.
