Hi Folks, I just bought a 2022 Highlander with 5200 miles from a dealer who used it as a loaner car. All the DCM features work but probably won't for long. The only subscription service I might be interested in is keeping the navigation update. I'm not interested in any other subscription services. Is it possible to update the navigation system without paying for a suite of services?

Map updates aren't a warranty issue.

While I love to Nav on our HL, I can say, when it's download up-dates, 50+% of the time, they are still not right. Not a big deal, but they don't see these damn round-arounds that are popping up everywhere. Not an issue as far as getting to location, just for a second the map and the route don't look the same, but I choose to use the in-dash system over my iPhone, but hay, that's just me.

Sorry... then Canada is very different than the US on this one (which happens a lot). In the US, map updates are not covered by warranty. The Dynamic Navigation trial is 3 years/unlimited mileage, and the labor involved in updating the map at any time (during the subscription period or at renewal) is not covered and must be paid by the customer.

I wish my 2022 RAV4 Limited Hybrid had the Nav set up.
It really annoyed me they made it another layer of the packages deal.
I have both the Tech & Weather packages but no Navigation.
Yeah i know people always say to 'Use your phone'.
Not good enough. Phones fail. Run out of Service Areas. Especially when we are Up North.
For example we were up north last summer exploring the back roads when we ran out of map (signal).
Fortunately we always carry our County Road Atlas with us in our vehicles.

Is there any way to 'Add' The Navigation to an existing vehicle?
Pay a charge or whatever? Seems all the components are there.
I see no reason why a car company would not make this available.

Thank you to any that know....

There is not a way to do that on a car that came with Entune. All of the components are not there; there's more hardware added for the nav including a GPS antenna and more processing power.

But by the looks of the 2023 Connected Services Applicability Guide, it looks like new 2023 models with the new Toyota Audio Multimedia (TAM) system can add the nav subscription (called "Drive Connect") on any trim level. It comes standard as a free trial period on higher trim levels, and it's "available" on the others. Those models are the ones listed on pages 1-7: bZ4X, Corolla, Crown, GR Corolla, Highlander, Mirai, RAV4, RAV4 Prime, Sequoia, Venza, and Tundra.
