I am in SA and have seen all kinds of pics of the 07 Tundra. I really LOVE my Taco, but it is not the best hauler. I can easily tow my 3 quads runner, but not so with the boat . . . I am considering moving to a Tundra . . .but would like some input from you guys.

Pros:

Tons more torque
Tons more room
Tons more lots of things

Cons:
Parking the beast
Gas Mileage
Gas Mielage
Oh, did I mention Gas?

Anyone else toss in their .02?

Thanks!

It's just a matter of needs. If you need something that can tow your boat and the Tacoma can't do it, then I would step up to the Tundra. With you saying "tons" on the PROS, then I would say you have already made up your mind.

Go with the Tundra if it suits your needs. There is nothing wrong with that truck, it just doesn't fit all of our needs.

Have not made up my mind. I agree the taco looks way better than the tundra. They should have made the 07 Tundra a larger version of the Taco, bet it would have been AWESOME!!

Still on the fence, as I have another vehicle that will tow the boat . . . but wife is considering a car . . . just trying to get some input from fellow TNers.

Gotta agree with tetsuo166 on this. I'm reserving final judgement of the new Tundra until I see few of them, esp. on the road (not just on dealer's lots). There may be the possibility of more faults (yes, even for Toyota) in the first year of any new model. And unless you can't wait, there should be a diesel engine available in a year or so -- the better to tow with!

Just a matter of needs...

I'm looking at the Tacoma because it's the only "not Full-size truck" that has a substantial towing capacity, and will still get me 18-22 MPG on my daily drive.

The towing capacity of this truck is "right at" the weight of my boat/trailer, but since I only pull the boat in/out a few times a season to clean it or maybe do some maintainance, I'm ok with that. Not to mention the boat launch is less than a mile away, and the speed limit never exceeds 25 MPH... If I towed the boat several miles to the water every weekend, I'd want a bigger margin on the towing capaity than what the Tacoma will give me.

Other than the occasional boat towing, the truck will be used to bring a few gallons of fuel to the boat from time to time, and make the occasional Home Depot run.

I think we're forgetting the biggest thing.....Price. Look to pay 40 to maybe 50 G's for a nicely equiped one. Too big and too much for me.
Yikes! I did not think they would be so much...I was thinking Diesel tundra in 09' or sticking with Team Taco in 09 iffins they find me some mo' Umph'., You would think that a well equipped V-8 Tundra would be in the low 30's, A loaded up one in the mid 30's with a loaded up diesel ringing in around the low 40's. that would be in line with the competition, as that is the range of the Ford and Dodge products that they are competing with...Right? 50G is a dually crew cab every option ever devised 4x4 ford powerstroke diesel. Toyota will be hard pressed to steal away the guys who are buying those trucks, those boys are loyal and pull some heavy-ass trailers with them rigs. Cattlemen,Oil field bigshots, Paving and asphalt folks Etc..Etc..

Mid thirties for a loaded up "Gasser" would be much more in line with the market.

Wow Adveture you are probably right...My math is based on 2wd trucks, how could you buy a 2wd Tundra in good faith.....

I dunno about this one. When I was looking at Tacomas, they were offering incentives on the Tundras, but not the Tacos. I could get the same (DC, 4x4,) with v8, leather and other niceties for only about 3k more than the Taco. I didn't want the beastly size and gas mileage, but the extra cab room, and the power rear window and other junk they were offering was tempting. Of course, next model year they may not be incentivizing it as much as 2 years ago. Or maybe more, depending on gas prices.

The price range I looked up online and it is "Tenative" is $17,000-$37,000 for the 2007 Tundra. The new bodystyle will greeted as the latest greatest thing and the intial dealer inventory will be commanding a premium. Why?. Because there is a definitive group of buyers who wanna say "Me First" and drive the market to the moon!, Ala FJ Cruiser style.

I'm curious and will certainly go drive one when they arrive. The styling still strikes me as "Odd" and a little bit "Cartoonish" though.

I believe this year's Tundra incentives are mainly to clear out all the 'old' Tundra inventory. Fuel prices be damned, don't expect any incentives on the '07 Tundras... unless they are not selling well by midyear '07 (not likely imo).

I am in SA. There will be no incentives for a long time. Toyota just opend this plant around a year ago. And they have already started expansion plans. They have so many orders from employees and family . . .

The demand is super high.

I checked the Titan out, nice truck but I am going to stick with Toyota either way.

Depending on the configuration it's really not that big. My previous tow vehicle was an F350 Crew-Cab V-10. That was a supertanker. It towed our boat great but I hated driving it daily. Can't fit in parking garages, plain parking is a bitch, gas mileage sucks. The room inside was enormous, it could tow our 33ft 12,000lb boat at 65-70mph without any effort. Other than that I had no need for such a big truck.

I dunno , I was poking around on the Nissan web site and built a loaded up 2007 4x4 Titan for 40K. The only thing that it didnt have was the Navigation and Dvd player. Short of that an LE 4x4 crew cab with pretty much all the goodies was 40K.

So you would figure a Tundra has gots to right at that same money.

Over $43K

Man that is a BMW 330CI another $8K and you could have an M3.

That's what you see on the internet, but when you get to the dealer there will be no M3 under $62k.

That's how it is here.

Once you are at the dealer it's a whole different price.

I was actually looking at the Titan when I was going to buy a new truck and it was FAST AS HELL. It had the BOD feature. Burnout on Demand.

It was so fast for such a BIG truck.

That would be insane, A "Hard" loaded Ram Quad Cab Sport has an MSRP of Less that 40K It appears as if Toyota is "Going After" the non-loyal Ram drivers. Why would they price themselves out of the game? Have you seen some pricing info somewhere?

43K for a Full size Gas powered truck is pushing into Diesel price territory.
