Need Rear Spoiler help

I want to add an OEM spoiler to my 2001 Camry. All of the ones I see for sale are totally rounded/smooth on the upper portion. I came across an OEM spoiler that had the same lines as the trunk. Have never seen that before. Can anyone advise me on this? They made 2 different types of spoilers?

Parts like that were offered both by the factory and often also as an aftermarket dealer installed accessory. The two are differently shaped, come from different suppliers and once the original stock was sold would be NLA.

Interesting, looking just now I don't seem to be able to find any part number for an OEM spoiler, for a Gen4 Camry ('97~'01). Perhaps they were all aftermarket (port installed or dealer installed).

There were certainly dealer-add ons and port add ons for the spoiler, but I remember when I was looking at the factory options for either a 2000 or maybe a 2001 Camry, there was a "sport" package available from the factory that included the spoiler, alloy wheels, and the round fog lights. That was not a package that was very popular- and very few of the Camrys that were sold in my area at the time came with it. I think it was available with the CE and/or LE trim- because the XLE already came with alloy wheels. Maybe that's the rear spoiler that's in the picture- and the more common rounded one was the port-installed or the dealer-installed spoiler.

Just a theory.

Personally, all of the OEM spoilers that I've seen for the 97-01 Camry have all been rounded.

Because it has the 3rd brake light delete piece in the rear window. That has to be a factory piece and no one, but a dealer or the factory, would have that piece and install it when doing the wing. Plus you would also need some kind of harness for the 3rd brake light and unless the factory supplied EVERY Camry with one, which would not make financial sense, then my 2 points above apply to that also.

Zbvs- I agree. Really suble but looks killer.

Its possible but. but my car came with no spoiler. When I put the spoiler on I grabbed the window 3rd light delete piece from a junkyard car with a spoiler. The harness just connected to the OE harness where the window light is. I also have a junkyard factory spoiler in storage somewhere... the factory spoilers have the harness and route to the window brake light harness so its part of the spoiler, not on the car itself. .

The best way to tell would be if you can check from the inside to check the underside to see how the mounting is. the OE spoilers (at least the rounded ones we al lknow of) have factory drilled holes in the trunk lid for a stud that a nut goes over and a round access hole....and also a kinda weird round hole up top for a mounting tab that pushes through so the spoiler is locked in place. its surrounded by double sided tape sheets to hep keep water out. Real PITA to remove.

The light on OE units is also somehow bonded / sealed / non serviceable to the spoiler with no screws or apparently replacement options. My understanding was that if the light goes out the whole unit had to be replaced, but aftermarket units generally have replaceable LED bars like the newer 5th gen spoilers. .

I too expected it to be on OEM part, factory installed, because of the wiring and the trunk holes, so was surprised to not be able to find it in the parts list. I must have just not looked in the right place.

Even the OEM spoiler is sometimes supplanted by additional spoilers produced by the aftermarket (note Gulf States Toyota and South East Toyota are huge, and they often make their own stuff like leather seats and fog lights and things to help move metal).

^^^ I have seen numerous non rounded spoilers that were on Camrys that did not have the fog lights. You can look on Ebay now and I think there are at least 2. Also on that car I posted, it did not have fog lights. Those founded fog lights are SUPER rare and I have only seen them on 97-99 Camrys, never on 2000-2001.

I did find a body line wing and will post it when I get it painted and installed. Also bought the 3rd window brake light delete piece too.

I find it really really hard to believe that the body line spoiler was not OEM. It does not make sense for the aftermarket to make the spoiler matching the body lines. If anything the rounded spoilers would be aftermarket.
Norm356 has the best reason in theory. It is reasonable that Toyota either outsourced OEM production, or a particular factory made these rare wings, maybe even surplus from Japan?
My neighbor and our son are making fun of me for modding my 2001 daily driver w 237K miles. They might have a point 😆

Looks like it has a smaller but similar "plug" that pops into a hole in the trunk.

I actually met someone on sunday at work who had one of these spoilers. he was an older gentleman who apparently bought it new. Was mint minus a "camry dent" in the bumper. his car was a 2001 Gallery edition model.

It was a very short interaction but he said... and I wouldn't take it too seriously since he seemed to be a bit forgetful / it was 24 years ago....... that he asked why the spoiler was different than the other cars that were on the lot at the time.. he was told that those spoilers were only on American built Camry's

I suppose that would make sense though?
