Hi TN Community,
I found a MIL code in my daughter's 98 Tercel pointing at the engine temp sensor. Since the temp. guage reads normal during driving I think it must be referring to the ECT sensor. Also the fuel economy is poor so it seems the ECM thinks the engine hasn't warmed up yet even after reaching operating temp.
I took ohmeter readings between the three pins on the sensor next to the thermostat housing and all pins are open (no resistence), engine cold. Perhaps this is a two stage temp. switch rather than a thermistor. Does anyone have a wiring diagram to confirm this?
Also, I wonder what the other sensor with the two wires going to it is.
I also tried to do a Search in this TN forum but so far I haven't found what I need; it is all too new to me to know how to efficiently do an effective search. If there is a thread or some posts already dealing with this matter, a link to them would be great, please, and thank you kindly.
