Hi all, I have the 07 DC/LB 4x4. I was looking for the zerk fitting on the u-joints and found none :sosad: . I thought all the 4x4 Taco’s had them. How are the other 07 4-bys configured? Thanks in advance.

WTF are zerk fittings

^It's where you grease the joints on your drive shaft (or anywhere that requires grease lubrication).

I don't think its possible that Toyota did away with them. I don't have any pictures, but I bet they've been posted at some point. Like Pb said, you might need to turn your drive shaft to expose them, and there is one at every joint.

I've seen u-joints without them before, but I think if Toyota was going to start using them then they would print a revised maintenance guide at the same time.

Stranger things have happened, though.

The prerunners and minis use zerk-less u-joints on the DS (from what I have read here). There is a thread here (if you wanna search for it) from about a year ago containing this discussion.

IDK why this guy has no zerks on his 4x4, though.

No, I have seen plenty of them with no zerks. Sealed and lubed-for-life (the life of the u-joint, I guess ;) ). But my '05 has the 5 that it's supposed to. Maybe Toyota is phasing them out and opting for the sealed units.

Just went out to check mine, have them. The transfer case shaft u-joint zerks are tucked up inside the center. The main drive shaft u-joint zerks are right on the end. My 05 had them, all tucked up inside.

actually non-greasable u-joints have its pros.

-the Spicer Life series has a triple lip. It's supposed to be water proof. Some jeep guys are running these.

-They are stronger because they are not drilled through for grease passages.

-Lazy people like me don't have to worry about constantly regreasing u-joints

I have an 06 DCab LongBed and I definitely have grease Zerks, I've been greasing them every 5000 miles with the oil change.

There wouldn't be any on an X-Runner, only the 4x4 trucks have grease zerks, all the others have sealed and permanently lubed u-joints.
