Hi,

I have a 2010 Toyota Corolla. It’s been a reliable car for the past 11 years but it’s been giving me issues lately. The check engine light came on as well as the VSC Off and traction control light. I went to O’Reilly and used their code scanner. It brought up P0304. The coil in the 4th cylinder was changed as well as the spark plugs, but the lights on the dashboard didn’t turn off. The car still makes a small rattle noise in the engine and seems to stutter when accelerating. Not sure what else to check? If the coil was the issue, shouldn’t the check engine light have gone off?Has anyone had this issue before?

Op, was the old plug from cylinder 4 white or covered in oil? If it is white, that fuel injector can be clogged and a cause of the misfire. Not the actual source of the issue. When the plug is covered in oil, the spark plug tube seal could be leaking and allowing oil to put out the spark to cause a misfire.

Need to look at the plug seal by removing the coil and see if there's oil on it.

For anyone having the same problem, try cleaning the throttle body. This solved my issue. No more rattling noise or stuttering.I also changed the coil and spark plugs. Trial and error is all it takes. Good luck!
