There's a couple on Ebay. Even used they're pricey.
Never heard of that being associated with a P0500, usually is the VSS or Speedometer cluster.
While ya wait you might wanna get a second opinion from an Independent shop and not mention what the dealership said. Just seems odd.

 

True - I see one for around $250 that I might go after, and I may see what I can find out from somebody. Is it super dangerous to drive it like this?

 

Go slow on replacing any parts until you have another diagnosis.

Danger wise I have no idea but dealer's being dealers I'm sure they would've introduced "Fear" into the sales pitch.

We have a lot going on with Easter coming up, so I pray and trust the dealer is telling the truth. I just can't take another day off to go to another shop right now, so I ordered one of the actuators from ebay that's used but seems to be from a reputable seller. Hopefully I can get it shipped in today or tomorrow to have put in this weekend.

 

The used actuator came in Thursday afternoon, and I went in this morning. The dealership had it installed in less than 3 hours, so labor, actuator and everything was around $850. If it holds up and lasts then maybe I can get the old one rebuilt to use if needed.
